Quad line training course

We’re expanding the Learn to Fly section! We’ve just listed the learning paths we’ve identified.

We now invite you to (re)discover :

  • KiteLife tutorials by John Barresi. These are still the best-known tutorials. John proposes a learning path and as many video tutorials to learn and get inspired for your next flights.
  • first steps in Revolution by Lyze Kiel. These tutorials are in French.

We’ve also listed some progression paths you can explore right away.

Happy 2023!

Feedback and teaser!

We love receiving your feedback and suggestions! Share your feedback. It encourages us to persevere and continue developing QuadKites.org.

We’ve corrected the links to the Jst-4-Fn manual in Team Flying Basics. Thanks to Oliver for reporting this bug.

We’re slowly preparing the translation of an unusual piece of content: a step-by-step guide to dual line kite construction. The techniques described have inspired us for many years. We’ve decided with the authors to share it here soon!

Happy Holidays!

New construction tutorials!

Since November 26, we’ve been preparing new content for building your next quad line kite.

Three tutorials are already available, documenting step-by-step constructions:

Thanks again to all the kitefliers who put their trust in us and allow us to publish their resources!

More maneuvers, but not only!

We have published the 40th and 41st North American maneuvers :

  • Ladder up
  • Twister with 6 kites

We’ve simplified navigation for Jst-4-Fn maneuvers. All these maneuvers are now on the same page.

Finally, you can now support us to develop and perpetuate QuadKites.org via the Paypal platform. Remember that all our content is free and that our activities are voluntary and non-profit. Donations will be used exclusively to cover the website’s server costs.

Fair winds!

Looking for kite building resources

We are currently looking for resources for building quad line kites and gear:

  • Plans
  • Step-by-step building instructions
  • Techniques, e.g. assembly, cut-outs, sewing machine, etc.
  • Feedback, tutorials, kite comparisons, etc.

The first kitefliers have just agreed to distribute their resources, including Yves Ganne, Polo kites, Frank Sazama,… We’ll be distributing this content over the coming weeks!

Do you know of any useful resources? Would you be willing to share your knowledge, photos or videos?

Good luck!

Learn to fly and build your own gear

You can now learn to fly quad line kites and build your own gear on this website!

We’ve put together a first group of tutorials. This is an important step in our project. Many resources exist just about everywhere. We’ve referenced them here to make learning easier!

We’ll be adding to these tutorials as we go along, based on your feedback! Enjoy the flight!

Jst-4-fn advanced maneuvers!

We’ve just added animations for more than 20 advanced team maneuvers from the Jst-4-Fn standard!

You can discover well-known maneuvers like ball, burst, pair change and more exotic ones like u-turn.

We’re writing the descriptions right now, and starting to list examples of improvised team flying.

Enjoy the flight!

Jst-4-Fn and 30 team maneuvers!

We’ve just animated 30 Jst-4-Fn basic team maneuvers in the form of 8 choreographed routines!

This was an opportunity to showcase the Jst-4-Fn team flying standard. It’s been tried and tested for almost 10 years, and can be used all over the world. European kitefliers know it well, especially for international festivals and meetings. You can read an introduction and download the manual.

In the coming weeks, we hope to

  • Translate the site into English
  • Continue to publish North American team maneuvers
  • Publish the French version of the Jst-4-Fn standard and Jst-4-Fn advanced team maneuvers.
