Vent your kite with Christiaan
Dutch kite flyer Christiaan van Oosterhoudt documented how he turned a standard quad-line kite into a vented quad-line kite. This restored making-of shows the process in 16 steps: preparing templates, cutting, fitting the mesh, gluing, sewing, and finishing the sail.
We translated the page into French and English, added captions, and sometimes reorganized the order for clarity. See also his full making-of of a Revolution kite.
This modification is difficult to reverse. Vent dimensions and placement must suit the model, intended wind range, and sail structure.
Before cutting an existing sail, review the methods for preparing patterns and panels and for sewing and finishing the sail.
Steps to vent your kite
Section titled "Steps to vent your kite"The steps may look simple, but they require precision: laying the sail flat, making clean cuts, and so on.
Compare other experiences
Section titled "Compare other experiences"Christiaan’s making-of documents one complete approach, but venting depends on the kite model, frame, and intended wind range. These discussions show other choices, questions, and uncertainties; they complement the photos without forming one universal method.
