Reach Rev mastery: avoid these three mistakes by Revolution Kites
Three mistakes that hold back progress with the Rev: gripping too hard, pulling to turn and pulling to avoid a crash.
From the series First flights. Transcript by QuadKites.org.
Key takeaways from this video
- Gripping too hard keeps the Rev from reaching the right angle to fly: relax your grip to launch, hold a hover and back down in reverse.
- Pulling on the handles makes the Rev slide sideways, not turn: keep sliding and turning separate in your mind.
- Pulling up and back to avoid a crash makes it worse: rotate your thumbs forward and down instead.

Mistake one: a tight grip
0:00I'm Joe Hadzicki, inventor of the Revolution, and here are three mistakes to avoid to reach Rev mastery. Mistake number one: a tight grip can stop your Rev from flying. Pulling and yanking will not fix this. Relaxing the grip allows your Rev to reach the proper angle to fly. Now use this relaxed grip to launch, hover and reverse your Rev for landing. How precisely you can control these things will define your level of Rev mastery.
Mistake two: pulling to turn
1:12Mistake number two: pulling your handles to try to turn your Revolution. Pulling causes your Rev to slide sideways, not turn. Although sliding is an important Rev skill, it's important not to mix that sliding with the turning. In your mind, you need to keep those two separate from each other.
Mistake three: pulling to stop crashes
1:41Mistake number three: pulling up and back to stop your Rev from crashing. This is a common reaction, and it's a natural thing to do, but it actually makes the crash worse. The correct motion to stop a crash is to rotate your thumbs forward and down. Focusing on precise control will lead you to Rev mastery.
