Mastering the Revolution Slow-Motion Spin in Three Steps by Revolution Kites
The slow-motion spin, one of the hardest figures, built in three steps: master the hovers at the four clock points, link them, then blend them into one continuous rotation.

Key takeaways from this video
- First master the hover at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, each requiring precise control of forward and reverse flight, turns and slides, with footwork.
- Then link the points clockwise, working in small sections, going back and forth between two positions.
- To blend the points, always think of the next one; the lower half of the circle, where everything is reversed, is the hardest.
- Talk to yourself out loud to guide yourself from point to point, and progress section by section.

Mastering the four hovers
0:00Hi, I'm Joe Hadzicki of Revolution Kites, and today we're going to look at the advanced move of the slow-motion spin. Like most advanced moves, it's actually a combination of smaller skills. Let's look at the three steps that lead to mastery of the slow-motion spin. Step number one: master your four-point hovers. You need to master the hover at each of the four points of the clock: 12:00, 3:00, 6:00, 9:00. Each hover position requires precise control of three skills: forward and reverse flight, left and right turning, and sliding. Although clock positions can be done without footwork, footwork is a key component of Rev mastery. I suggest practicing your clockwork with footwork. It looks like this.
Chaining the hover points
1:46Step number two: practice your hover points in a clockwise direction. Four points looks like this. Be sure to use your footwork. It's often helpful to take a section and break it into smaller pieces. Let's look, for example, at the right hover to the inverted hover, and we'll go back and forth and just lock those positions in. Let's take it one step further and add a third clock position.
Blending the clock points
2:55Now that you have your hovers and the sequence locked down, we're ready for step three: slowly blend those clock points together. The key to this is to think about the next clock point, the point that you are moving to. For example, at 12:00 you should be thinking about the 3:00 point; at 3:00 you should be thinking about 6:00. This is pretty straightforward on the top half of the circle, but when you move to the bottom half of the circle, it can be challenging because everything is inverted. Remember, this is one of the most challenging moves you'll ever accomplish, so don't be too hard on yourself.
Talking yourself through it
3:29Do just like you did before: break it into sections and, really importantly, talk yourself through it. It'll be something like this: 12:00, okay, I'm going to 3:00. Good, good. 3:00, okay, I'm going to 6:00. Okay, good, good. Okay, okay, okay, that's pretty good. I forgot where I was going. I was going to 9:00. Just do it like that. Work your way through it section by section, and you'll be there in no time. 12:00, 3:00, 6:00, keep it moving, keep it blended, 9:00, keep it going, 12:00. Let's reverse it: 9:00, 6:00, 3:00, straight up. Yes, awesome job. We'll see you on the field.
