Packing the Revolution's lines by Now’Air

Key takeaways from this video

  • Untangle the lines before winding, then lay the kite down upside down so the lines lie flat on the ground.
  • Catch the four lines on the winder, bring the bridles up to it and wind in figure eights all the way to the kite.
  • Join the bridles pair to pair with a larks head, then hold everything with the elastic over the handles so the loops cannot twist around each other; the lines will come out untangled.

  1. Untangling and laying the kite down

    0:08

In this tutorial we will see how to wind up the lines of the kite. The kite is at the end of its lines, all the lines come to us and the handles are on the ground. We are going to learn to wind our lines back onto the winder. I always recommend untangling your lines first. Put your kite down upside down and let go: the kite lies down and you have your lines on the ground, ready to be wound.

  2. Winding onto the winder

    0:52

How do we wind the lines? Take the winder and use it to catch the four lines, then pull so that the bridles come right up to the winder. Once that is done, hold the winder and the bridles in your left hand, and with your right hand make a turn to lock the lines you have just passed. Then make a figure eight, once from below and once from above, all the way to the kite.

  3. Unhooking the kite

    2:35

37 m further on, a few more figure eights around the winder, and we find our handles and our lines neatly stored, all four at the same time. Now we can unhook the kite. I push my handles to the ground without tangling them, then I take the top bridles and make the larks head knot. I keep the loop and put the brake inside the loop of the fronts; it is a habit I have picked up. The bridles are straight, and we do the same on the other side, with the back inside the front. Both pairs are now put together.

  4. Securing the lines

    3:48

Finish winding your lines onto the winder. Take the two handles and put them on top, then slip the elastic over the handles; it holds your lines and your winder together and stops the loops from turning around each other. You can simply wedge them. You can put this winder straight in your bag, and when you undo the lines they will not be tangled.
