Key takeaways from this video
- A Revolution-type kite comes in a pouch; some models include a second set of rods for lighter winds.
- Assemble the leading edge first, pushing each rod about 3 to 4 cm into its connector, then fit the two vertical rods on the side opposite the bridle.
- Before moving on, check that the bridle is free of the connectors, and weigh your bag down with sand so the wind cannot carry it off.

Taking the kite out
0:14Here is how to set up a Revolution-type kite. When you buy it, it comes in a pouch. Take the kite out; in some models like this one you will also find a second set of rods inside the pouch. That second set is for lighter winds. Unroll the kite and you will find its parts: three rods that make up the leading edge and two others that will be the verticals.
Assembling the leading edge
1:04The first step is to join the whole leading edge. The outer rods slot into the inner rod of the leading edge, and you attach the connector. Here is a close-up of how to attach the connector to the second rod: the rod slides in about 3 to 4 cm, so push the two pieces together properly. Same for the second outer connector. Check that everything is well seated, then run the bridle over the front of the sail, untangling it if loops have formed around the connectors.
Fitting the vertical rods
2:01Now fit the two vertical rods, which sit at the back of the kite, on the side opposite the bridle. Turn the kite over and lay it on the ground. Place the first vertical rod on the first foot, starting with the leading edge and then the foot connector. Then fit the second rod. Make sure the bridle does not catch and is clear of the connector.
Checking the bridle
2:54The kite is assembled. Check that the bridle is free at the front, with the central point, the front bridle and the brake bridle. Next you walk away and unroll your lines, which is the subject of a second short tutorial. Look after your bag: the wind can blow it away, so put some sand on it.
