Introducing the Revolution and its lines by Now’Air

Key takeaways from this video

  • A Revolution 1.5 has a 2.30 m wingspan and five rods: two verticals and three forming the leading edge.
  • To start, keep lines of 20 to 25 m; with experience you can lengthen them, 37 m (120 ft) being the standard for team flying.
  • Wind lines in a figure eight so they do not twist, which also lets you rinse them and dry them as they are.

  1. Introduction

    0:09

This tutorial series presents the Revolution-type kite, the lines used to fly it, how to set up your kite and your lines, then how to pack them away.

  2. The Revolution 1.5

    0:25

Here is a Revolution-type kite, the 1.5 model: 2.30 m wingspan and 78 cm high. It has five rods, two verticals and three that form the leading edge, joined by two connectors in the center.

  3. Lines and winders

    0:51

In shops, lines come on winders of various shapes and sizes, and in all colors: white, green, blue, yellow.

  4. Line lengths

    1:39

I advise you to keep several line lengths in your bag. To start on a Revolution, 20 to 25 m. With some experience, you can lengthen them to 37, 40 or 42 m, which is already a lot for a Rev. The big standard, at least for team flying, is 120 ft lines, about 37 m.

  5. Storing and caring for lines

    2:10

Lines are always wound in a figure eight: this avoids twisting them and making them spin on themselves. When winding them, what matters is being able to unwind them later without tangles or twists, to keep them in good condition. Stored this way, you can rinse them in water with a small clothes brush to remove sand and salt, and let them dry as they are. In the next tutorial: how to set up your kite.
