Revolution question of the day: Blast or Power Blast 2-4? by Revolution Kites

Key takeaways from this video

  • With the Reflex modifications, both models fly in almost no wind.
  • The Blast offers the speed of the Speed models with more stability thanks to its size; the Power Blast 2-4 adds real power while staying very responsive.
  • The 2-4's power makes it a good engine for traction kiting.
  • Below 10 miles per hour (about 16 km/h), the 2-4's traction potential goes unused; above it, it opens up traction kiting.

  1. The question

    0:00

Hi, I'm Joe Hadzicki, inventor of the Revolution, and today let's answer a question from a Club 38 member who asked: should I get a Blast or a Power Blast 2-4? I hadn't really thought about it like that before, but now with the new Reflex modifications you can fly virtually either model in almost zero wind conditions. From the speed point of view, many people choose the Blast because it's got the high speed of the speed models, but it's more stable because of its larger size. Or people are looking for a power variation on the Rev, and that gives you either the Power 2-4 or the Power Blast 4-8. Many people pick the 2-4 because you get that power but at the same time you have incredible responsiveness.

  2. Precision and power compared

    1:28

When you see the precision performance of these two models, you may think they're very similar, and in many ways they are, but don't be fooled: the power of the 2-4 is significant and is perfectly suited for power kiting. With the new breakthrough of the Reflex design, both of these models are amazing in lightweight conditions.

  3. Why Joe picks the 2-4

    3:08

I've said many times that if I could only have one Revolution, it would probably be the Power Blast 2-4. It has incredible controllability, it's unbelievable in light-wind conditions, and it's the perfect engine for power kiting. But that's just me personally; I love power kiting. Now if you have no interest in power kiting but you want that Revolution control, and you want that speed, and you want incredible light-wind performance, the Revolution Blast might be the perfect Rev for you.

  4. Wind conditions decide

    3:36

One of the most important factors to consider is your wind conditions. I love both of these models in light-wind conditions, but if your conditions are typically under 10 miles an hour, you're not going to get a chance to realize the power kiting potential of your 2-4. If your wind conditions are typically higher than 10 miles an hour, the Power Blast 2-4 opens up the incredible world of power kiting. Either way, picking up a Rev speed model is crazy fun and will take your Rev skills to a new level. We'll see you on the field.
