Key takeaways from this video
- A new bridle line can be stiff and come undone; once it has been on the kite for a while, it takes its shape.
- Bottom bridle: pass the loop through the end cap from the top, then over the end cap, and tighten.
- Top bridle: pass the long loop through the short one, then back through the long one, and tighten.
- If only one side has come undone, look at the other side of the kite and do the same.

A disconnected bridle point
0:00Wow, very interesting, Mike. I have not seen this actual situation in 38 years. What you actually have is disconnected bridles. It's possible that a bridle can get disconnected at certain points, but symmetrically at all points on the kite, I have never seen that before. So what you normally do, if you've got one that's been disconnected on one side, is look at the other side of the kite and repeat that on this side. But apparently it happened on all sides. Okay, so let's get started.
Reconnecting the bottom bridle
0:36Number one, get your bottom loop. Let's start with the bottom bridle line. At the end you have a loop. What happens is, in the shop, this line can be very stiff coming off the roll. After it's been on the kite for a while, it will take a shape. But until then, it's stiff and it can work its way off, which apparently it did on all these points. So, first thing you do is take that loop, pinch it, feed it through the cap, top of the cap, pull it out. So it's just going through the cap. See that? Now just put the loop over the cap and pull it tight. That's the way it's connected at all the caps throughout the kite. All right, so now you've got the bottom bridle connected.
Reconnecting the top bridle
1:34Now, the more confusing one is the top bridle. You've got a long loop on the vertical part of the bridle and a short loop on the horizontal part. So take the long loop, put it through the short loop, and then back through the long loop. And then cinch it down. And that's your bridle point. Okay, do the same thing on the other side and you'll be ready to go.
