My Favorite Rev Skills, Part 3 by Revolution Kites

Key takeaways from this video

  • The Rev flies very slowly or very fast, forward or in reverse: controlling its speed makes team flying possible and lets you see the details of a figure.
  • The bicycle spin keeps its height during the rotation, instead of losing it as in an ordinary spin.
  • The tumble wheel combines the three modes of flight into one continuous figure: forward and reverse, spins and slides.
  • These ten favourite skills do not replace the others: all 38 lead to master level.

  1. Introduction and speed control

Hi, I'm Joe Hadzicki, inventor of the Revolution. In the last two videos we covered seven out of ten of my favorite Rev Club 38 skills. Now let's look at the last three of my favorite skills and why they're my favorites. Revolution Club 38 favorite skill number eight: speed control and slow-motion flying. The Rev has an amazing ability to fly at slow speeds and fast speeds, both forward and reverse, and it can also hover stationary. Speed control allows us to fly in teams, because you can very precisely match the other kites' speeds. It's also an excellent way to look at the details of a precision skill: you slow it down, check out those details, and reverse back at it, as we'll see in the following examples.

  2. The bicycle spin

    2:16

Club 38 favorite skill number nine: the bicycle spin. When spinning your Rev, the natural tendency is to lose height during that spin. With the bicycle spin technique, you can actually maintain the height of that spin. Let's use favorite skill number eight, slow-motion flying, to break down the details of the bicycle spin.

  3. The tumble wheel

    3:56

Club 38 favorite skill number ten: the tumble wheel. This combines all three of the basic flight modes, forward and reverse flight, spins and slides, into one continuous skill. Let's use our favorite skill number eight to break down the details of the tumble wheel. Practice segments of the sequence when you're flying for fun. By adding these skills to your flying, your flying will reach new levels of Rev mastery. Those are my ten favorite Club 38 skills, but remember, all 38 skills are important and they lead up to the master level.
