My Favorite Rev Skills, Part 1 by Revolution Kites

Key takeaways from this video

  • To flip over a Rev lying upside down, tighten all four lines, set the handles level, then push forward the thumb of the top handle.
  • The dive stop, stopping the Rev before it hits the ground, is the best way to avoid damaging it.
  • The side hover is the preferred way to hold the Rev still in light wind, and the best preparation for advanced combinations.
  • Every hover balances three modes of flight: forward and reverse, turning and side slide.

  1. Introduction to the ten skills

    0:00

Hi, I'm Joe Hadzicki, inventor of the Revolution, and in the next few videos I'd like to go over my favorite Rev skills from Revolution Club 38 and why they're my favorites. I'm going to rank them from basic to advanced. Let's get started. Revolution Club 38 favorite skill number one: turn your Rev over. Imagine you're flying your Rev and it crashes into the ground, and now you have to go set it up. I hate it when that happens. Oh no, the dreaded walk of shame. But no worries: once you learn this skill, turning your Rev over, you'll be set and ready to go.

  2. Landing upside down

    0:56

When your Rev lands upside down, what I want you to do is make sure all four lines are tight and the handles are even. You can do this by stepping back. Once they're tight and even, identify which handle is on top. That's the handle you reverse. Push that thumb forward. If there's enough wind, this will just roll your Rev over, because you're actually flying that wing in reverse. This is what it looks like.

  3. The dive stop

    1:42

Revolution Club 38 favorite skill number two: the dive stop. This skill goes without saying. It's one of the big crowd pleasers, it's like the ultimate Rev skill, but more important than that, it's the best way to avoid damaging your Rev. If your Rev dives, stop it before it hits the ground.

  4. The side hover

    2:10

Revolution Club 38 favorite skill number three: the side hover. This is one of my favorite skills. This is the preferred way to hover your kite when you're flying in light wind. I use it all the time. Hovers are all based on balancing the three main modes of flying, so you balance forward and reverse flight, turning, and side sliding. This is true at any orientation. The side hover is the perfect way to set up combinations and other advanced skills. By adding these skills and combining them together, your Rev flying will reach new levels of mastery. What is your favorite Rev skill? Put it in the comments below.
