Key takeaways from this video
- The snap spin, a fast spin and a crisp stop, is the hallmark of Revolution flying and a good way to move from one figure to another.
- The bottom turn to float: turn with the bottom wing, then lay it flat so it floats across the wind, very useful at the edge of the window in very light wind.
- The float is a variation of the side hover: the further you go towards the edge, the more you pull the top wing towards you, until you are floating.
- Clock turns and the inverted circle slide are practised in sections, then put together into a full clock or circle.

Snap spins
0:00Hi, I'm Joe Hadzicki, inventor of the Revolution, and in our last video we covered three of my favorite ten Rev Club 38 skills. Now let's look at the next four favorites and why they're on my list. Club 38 favorite skill number four: snap spins. Flying fast and stopping fast is the hallmark of Revolution flying. The snap spin is all about fast spins and sharp stops. Snap spins are also a great way to transition between different skills. Check out my video in the description below to learn the techniques of the snap spin.
Bottom turn to float
1:15Club 38 favorite skill number five: bottom turn to float. This is basically where you turn with your bottom wing, and once you go through the turn, you lay the wing out and cause it to float across the wind. This is one of my favorite skills because I use it in extremely light conditions, and it's especially useful out on the edge of the window. It allows you to go further out, lay your Rev out and float it across the wind.
Float and side hover
1:55The float is actually a variation of the side hover. When you're in the side hover, you need to pull your top wing slightly towards you to help generate some lift. As you go further out to the edge, you need to pull it further and further until you finally end up in a float. That float is a function of the Reflex curve and the angle. So the bottom turn to float is: fly to the edge, pull it towards you, bottom turn, which means you do the turn with the bottom wing, and then rotate into a float going in the opposite direction. It looks like this.
Clock turns
2:44Club 38 favorite skill number six: clock turns. Clock turns, like snap spins, show off the extremely precise control of your Revolution. Practice your clock turns in sections. For example, practice the top section: 9:00, 12:00, 3:00. I try to do this every day. Now we add the sections together to make a complete clock. To push your clock skills to the next level, try the eight-o'clock.
Sliding
5:03Revolution Club 38 favorite skill number seven: sliding. In fact, we're going to talk about the inverted circle slide. Sliding is an amazing skill that allows you to position your Rev very precisely. Slides can be done in all directions: horizontally, vertically, even inverted. My favorite version of the slide is the inverted circle slide. This requires all angles of the slide.
Practicing the circle slide
6:02The best way to practice the inverted circle slide is to practice it in sections. For example, from a side hover, slide down, slide up, then take that a step further and put a slight curve on it: sliding down, sliding back up, gradually increasing that as you go around the circle. Another variation is to try slides at slight angles, so you break it into a faceted turn rather than a smooth curve. You can always blend those curves together. By combining these skills, your flying will take on a new level of Rev mastery. Put a comment below: what is your favorite Rev skill?
