Revolution Mastery: 5 Core Skills, Part 2 of 2 by Revolution Kites

Key takeaways from this video

  • A simple wrist rotation switches instantly from forward to reverse flight.
  • Rotating both handles in opposite directions gives a much more aggressive spin than a simple turn.
  • The slide comes from pulling the handle back without rotating it, and works in every orientation, even upside down.
  • Total speed control makes slow flight possible, the basis of elaborate moves such as the slow-motion spin.

  1. Forward and reverse flight

Hi, I'm Joe Hadzicki, inventor of the Revolution, and these five core skills are included in our online Club 38 course. Let's take a closer look at those core skills, including a slow-motion breakdown. Core skill number one: forward and reverse flight. Unlike most kites, the Revolution can fly both forward and backward. These handle rotations are very subtle. The Revolution is extremely responsive, so it's very hard to see that rotation. This rotation has no effect on the Rev at all. With a simple rotation of the wrist, you can instantly shift from forward flight to reverse flight.

  2. Stop and dive stop

    2:41

This ability allows us to stop instantly if we find ourselves in a difficult situation. The most common use of this skill is the dive stop. Core skill number three: turns and spins. By rotating both handles in opposite directions, you can create a much more aggressive spin or turn.

  3. Slides

    3:51

Core skill number four: slides. Your Revolution is capable of sliding sideways. This is accomplished by pulling the handle back, but do not rotate your handle while you're sliding. The slide can be performed in any orientation: side to side, up and down, even inverted.

  4. Slow-motion flying

    4:39

Core skill number five: slow-motion flying. Since you have total control over the speed of your Rev, use slow-motion flying to create very intricate maneuvers. Now for one of the most advanced skills of the Revolution, the slow-motion spin. With these five skills, you can perform at the highest levels of Rev mastery. Let's put a few of those skills together and create an intricate Rev master pattern.
